Unit 57/Angles

This is an image i took in Hyde Park; as we are experimenting on different types of camera shots, we were told to take pictures at many different angles. Angles including high low and medium shots. This image is a high shot, a high shot is an image in which it was captured from the ground where you point the camera upwards. This image gives an example of a high shot.  However all three of these pictures are different but in a way they are the same.
They are the same image in terms of the angles (High shots), however they are different in the style and the colour of the pictures. the first image and the third picture has a lot of greens whereas the second image looks more like a silhouette. I think all three of the picture are effective in its own way but if i had to pick i would chose the first image. The reason why i think this is because i like the the way the branches fold in all different directions; i also like this because the image is very bright and although we are in autumn the tree is still in its summer; this meaning that the leaves aren't brown and there not bare. I took this image at he perfect time because if i was to take it any later the tree wouldn't look this colour. I like all of the high shot images i taken of these images that i took as they all show that i took a high shot but all the pictures are perfectly took to show what type of angle shot it actually is.

These two images are medium shots, medium shots is where a picture is captured in the an angle from the persons view. The first picture of the spider was a very detailed picture as the image of the actual spider is captured in its web. The web is visible as well as the spider itself. As September is the season for spiders to come out, i looked for spider and spider webs as i though it would take a really good picture. the spider and the web are in focus and the leaves in the background are out of focus. This makes the spider stand out and it is right in the centre of the image. No effects were needed in order to improve this picture as i thought it was effective enough as it is.

The second picture is a small out side gazebo called a canapé; this image is exactly central as i used the third grid rule. This picture is a medium shot like like the image of the spider and the spider web. The background of this picture has captured really well because the tops of the trees just touch the edge of the the whole picture. The colours used really brighten up the image, especially the the trees int he background. The whole image is in focus which is why i think it is a successfull mediam shot.


This picture of the bench is a low shot. All the pictures i took were meant to be took at an angle. In order for me to capture this image i had to kneel down and take the picture. the bench is all in focus and the concrete floor in the background is all out of focus. I thought this was very effective in the way it was taken and the fact that it is autumn, the theme colours are all in the image, even the colour of the bench.

Unit 57/Lines

Lines

As an activity i was told to take pictures of different things in different ways. These images are pictures of lines. The first picture i took is a picture of a grid; The lines in the grid are vertical but this picture is take on a diagonal.
The second picture is an image captured is more unusual the the rest of the pictures i took. As it is an image of a tree, its not like the other pictures. The picture of the tree has lots of vertical lines in it; however it is not as visible as actual lines. The leaves in the tree are hanging towards the ground rather than off a branch. All the leaves are vertical and looking onto the ground. I thought i would be different to what everyone else would take and no one would of thought outside the box; whereas i did,  which is why i took it. To improve this picture i wish i would of got the bottom of the picture where you could see the fresh cut grass. Eventhough i like this picture there could improvements to make in order to make it a better image.

These two images are pictures of fences. These two pictures were taken in Hyde Park near to where the college is. the colours in the fence also match the autumn colours (the season we are right now).  I prefer the first image rather than the second as i like the angle of the picture on the first one, whereas the the second picture doesn't look as if i had been taken by a photographer so i was quite disappointed with that one. However the first picture is effective, the angle took is really good and it is in focus.

This picture was also taken in Hyde Park; The lines in this image is the vertical lines and the horizontal lines in the hand rails. The reason why i took the picture at this angle was so it i could get all three of the handrails; even though you can't really see the handrail on the left hand side you can see the top of it. i also took the image this way because it looked better than just taking it head on. What i also like about this picture is that you can see the autumn leaves on the stairway. This gives the picture an autumn feel to it as all he colours are all there.

This image is the same as the other just taken at a different angle.  out of the two pictures i took i like this one more; this is because like the other one you can see all the autumn leaves but what is different about this one is that you can see all the greenery in the background. Also unlike the first image you can see the tops of all three of the handrails. What i like most about this picture is that it gives a different feel to it. Although it gives am autumn feel, looking at the picture makes you feel like if you walk down this staircase it would take you into a beautiful forest whereas the first picture doesn't give you that.

Unit 57/Third Grid Rule

In Adobe Photoshop i edited this picture so the object was in the centre of the image. On this picture i put the grid lines in to obey the "Third Grid Rule". I put in lines at measurements at 33% and 66%; this is so the ruler lines were exactly apart. The image i have edited here isn't quite in the centre on the actual picture. What i did to fix this was use the tool free transform; this reduces and increases the size of the image and by pressing the shift key does change the size of the image itself. By increasing the picture to make it bigger it made the centre object right in the middle of the whole image; The picture above is an example of me putting in the ruler lines.

The image on the left is an image of the original picture took earlier today (September 9th 2014); without the grid the picture doesn't look to bad but with the grid you can see where the object isn't central. After i edited it so it was in the middle, i then changed the brightness and the contrast of the image to brighten and make the picture look better.

This image is the completed, edited version of the origianl image. As you can see, the central object is more in the middle and the brightness and contrast has darkened and the picture looks effective and it now stands out a whole lot more than the orginal image.

Again with this image  i used Photoshop to obey the third grid rule using the exact same measurements as last time. The image i have taken is in the "Golden Section" area of a picture. The golden section is in any image if the main object/subject is in the golden section of the picture, it will always look good. I Also to make the image look effective i changed the brightness and the contrast of the image: the brightness i took down to -39 and changed the contrast so it was higher at 64. This darkened the picture and the object (the tree) but also shown the sunlight a lot more in the image. This looked better than the orginal image. As you can see at the bottom right hand corner of the building on the first image is the actual colour of the collge, colours including red and oranges. Whereas the second image where it is darkend the bulding is almost black making the rest of th eimage stand out.


The image on the left is the original picture i took earlier today. This image is slightly differnt from wahat it looks like in picture above as it was been edited in photoshop. Firstly, to make this image better, what i did was straighten the image out. If you look at the very bottom of the picture the row of houses are slanted to one side. In order for the image to look a whole lot better, i straigthen the whole image out by using the tool free transform. I increased the image and staghtend it by rotaing a little so i got the perfect image.

The image on the right is a picture i took this morning, As i thought the picture was quite affected in the way that it looks like silhouette, i didn't think any editing was needed. However i uploaded it onto photoshop and used the third grid rule to make sure that the far left tree was in the lefthand side of the grid. I thought the sunlight and the clouds really makes the picture creative and effective, Although the sky was blue and the tree were green, i took this picture on manual mode and didn't put any settings on the camera to make it turn out like this one.

This is the original image i took of a motorcycle/scooter outside of college today. The image is central however when i put the measurements of the grid onto Adobe Photoshop the vehicle wasn't as central as i first thought.

The image on the far right is the image being edited in photoshop. Again like other pictures i edited the brightness and the contrast to make the picture look better. The image is now brightened and looks a lot smoother than the first image i originally took earlier. I used the third grid rule to centre to object into the middle; to do this enlarged the picture and held the shift key, i then moved it into the centre of the page. The image now looks smooth, bright and central, it looks neat and looks how a one shot is supposed to look like.

Unlike the other pictures i have taken this image is a portrait; i took it vertically on the camera that i used. I thought the greenery was effective and the pattern on the tree trunk was memsmorising. I decided to take this image as it was like no other, it was unique in its own way so i thought to capture and edit it later on. The same rules apply in terms of the third grid rule; the only difference is that the picture was taken vertically. As the main object (The tree trunk) isnt central i moved it slightly to the right so the main trunk was directly central of the image; the sides were exactly on pint of the both the lines at 33% and 66%. 

Out of all the images i captured and edited this was my favourite one to edit. This is because i could edit it in any way wanted although making sure the central object was in the centre of the third grid rule, just touching both the lines. What i did to improve this image was; i brightend the image by darkening it. I took the contrast down but turned the brightness just little bit more thatn zero. The picture was then darker than the original image i took. I was determined to make this image look better than the other pictures i took, because i feel this is the picture i captured whilst i was out taking pictures and i felt like i could do a lot to edit it and make it look atmospheric.
After changing the contrast and the brightness, i added other effects to the photo to embrace the nature in the image. In the top right hand corner there is a glimpse of a rainbow even there wasnt one before. I thought it looked effective and it draws attention to the picture as it is a mixture of colours; the main colours in this photograph is green, so by adding the glimpse of a rainbow into it i thought brightened up the picture, draws attention to it and also to embrace the nature of the whole image. However the rainbow wasnt enough to make the picture as atmospheric as i would of hoped. From previous experience of using photoshop i used a tool called the gradient tool (Rectangle 1). I dragged this tool from the bottom right hand corner and dragged it about 1/4 of the way up; this made the picture gradually darken from the top, i was eventually happy with what i edited. By doing this the picture now looks a lot more atmospheric as it got to the ground. The whole image is now ethereal, and i believe i have made the image a whole lot more superior.

Over the shoulder shot
Usually over the shoulder shots are used in interviews but i wasn't taking a video so this is an over the shoulder shot of Sophie Masterman taking a photograph of Cindy Delgado whilst she is also taking a photograph.

Weather Shot/Silhouette
As this is an image of a weather shot i managed to take a photograph looking like a siloutee with a manual setting.
